What is the "Leaders In Training" program?

The Leaders in Training program is a leadership experience that occurs during both our March Break and Summer Camps. The program provides participants the opportunity to work alongside Go Green staff and community partners. LITs will develop instructional skills for our daily camp programs including archery, baseball, basketball, ecoarts (arts & crafts), dodgeball, icebreakers, games, cricket, robotics, and much more!

What are the age requirements for the program?

The Go Green LIT program is geared towards youth between the ages of 14 – 16. They will be mentored by staff between the ages of 17 - 22.

Why did you create this program?

Based on parent, camper, and staff feedback, we have recognized that we needed to create more meaningful opportunities for our growing youth in our community to get more involved with Go Green Youth Centre. This program is geared towards high school students (ages 14 - 16) who want to broaden their volunteering experience. Our mission is to empower and inspire our future generation with the skills they learn in our program.

What do I gain from this program?

This program is an opportunity to gain experience working with children, especially in a day camp setting.

The Leaders in Training program will provide you with the following:

  • LIT T-Shirts (summer uniform)

  • Leadership Opportunities and Guest Speakers

  • New Friends

  • University & College Mentors

  • Volunteer Hours

  • Reference Letter (if asked)

When is the program? Do I have to complete the full length of the program?

Our program currently has two sessions-- March Break Camp (March 11 - March 15) and Summer Camp (July 3 - August 15).

Applicants must apply separately for each session, regisration dates will be announced on our social media and website.

Note: Priority will be given to applicants who are able to participate for the entire program.

While preference will be given to candidates who are able to volunteer for the entire duration of the program, candidates must notify us in their application if their absence will be more than 2 consecutive days.

Where will the program be?

Our camps currently operate between two locations that are walking distance.
